Symposium abstract

Emotional competencies play an essential role in preventing violence and promoting psychosocial well-being during adolescence, especially in the educational context. This symposium highlights the importance of integrating these personal competencies into the school curriculum as a key tool to face the challenges that adolescents face today. In this framework, recognising the educational context as a privileged space for socialisation and learning, innovative strategies focused on the development of emotional competencies will be presented in order to effectively address the specific problems that arise in the classroom.

This proposal responds to the need to implement educational actions that promote adolescent well-being, as well as the prevention of risks associated with peer violence. In this line of action, the school environment is positioned as an ideal setting to promote positive changes, highlighting the role of teachers as agents of change. In addition, the symposium will provide a space to reflect on the importance of designing interventions adapted to the needs of students, ensuring a significant impact on their well-being and mental health.

This work has been developed thanks to the project IE-MOTION: Recurso digital para docentes en el diseño de intervenciones personalizadas orientadas a la prevención de la violencia y la promoción del bienestar del alumnado de Secundaria (Ref.: PROYEXCEL_00607), funded by the Grants for Excellence Projects, on a competitive basis, aimed at entities qualified as agents of the Sistema Andaluz del conocimiento, within the scope of the Plan Andaluz de Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación (PAIDI 2020).
